OUR HISTORY & PURPOSE
Modu Shopping Mall, or Modu Mall as we are generally referred to by our numerous customers, is owned and operated by Modu Sterling Global Ventures Limited. The founding of Modu was triggered by the needs of homes and offices in Ogun State particularly Sagamu following the movement of people and businesses to the city and other parts of Ogun State because of the congestions experienced in other neighboring cities, particularly Lagos. We also identified the need for our people in the state to have a one-stop convenient shopping center where they could purchase all their needs while avoiding the stress associated with our traditional shopping model. Our company became registered under the company and allied matters in August 2007. Since our establishment, we have grown tremendously in terms of our product and service range and the number of customers we serve.
In 2009 we commenced the building of our first shopping mall and by the 15th of July 2011 we officially opened the mall to customers - the parent company-owned facility, known as Modu Shopping Mall, Sagamu. This mall, strategically located along Sagamu-Ikenne Road, Isale-oko, near Round-about, has led to the rapid development of the then outskirts of the town over the years. It would soon become clear to us that Modu was not just founded to make people’s lives easy and comfortable, but to also bring socio-economic development to our immediate environment. The mall was designed and built with the comfort of our would-be customers in mind: well-spaced car parks, convenience stores, variety of products, technology-oriented processes, and well-trained employees. Modu Shopping Mall became the vendor of choice for consumers, ensuring they got all their home and office needs within reach, at the right quality, and affordable prices.
The Abeokuta mall which came into existence in 2017, is located along Abeokuta-Ibadan express-way, opposite Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran. We can still recall till this day several people asking us why we would build such an ultra-modern mall like this, again, on the outskirts of the town. It then became obvious that part of the purpose of Modu coming into existence has been to orchestrate the opening-up of some other businesses, especially cottage industries and would-be entrepreneurs and organizations in certain locations. Today many businesses located in the heart of Abeokuta have come to join us along Obantoko.
Within the mall premises are three buildings and a large car park facility capable of parking more than 50 cars at a time. The mall itself, which is the main building, contains eight shops dealing in grocery items, home and office appliances, electronics, furniture, musical instruments, body care and boutique products. We did not focus only on the comfort of adults who do most of the shopping, we also provided a 200 square meter playground with amenities for kids to have fun while their parents do the shopping. For kids old enough to shop, we have a shop floor specially dedicated only for kiddies’ stuff. The second building contains 4 shops, from where we provide paid services like the Gymnasium for fitness which promotes healthiness and an exclusive unisex salon for looking good. The third building is where our kitchen, bakery, and restaurants are located.
Till this day, we are known and trusted by our customers and business partners for our expertise in the retailing of grocery and body care items, home and office appliances, furniture and musical instruments, clothing apparels and kiddies’ products, and in providing restaurant, saloon and gymnasium services.
